J.D.

It has been a whirlwind since we got home with JD! His new name is Bailey (as in George Bailey). Bailey is settling in nicely. He is a happy happy boy! He has settled into a nice routine already. He is eating, sleeping and loves to go riding in the car! We took him to Houston with us yesterday to take our grandson home and Bailey loved the trip. He got to meet family and he did awesome! Steve and are so happy to have him in our lives. We thank you for picking us (we do not take the privilege-lightly) and for entrusting Bailey with us. We are forever grateful.

Bailey

Just wanted to let you know that the little princess is doing great! We ended up naming her Holly and she had no problem getting to know her new name (nick name is Sassy Pants when she is playing with major attitude 😉). Had the vet do a recheck and her weight is 37.5. Vet thinks she looks great and no concerns. She is now inhaling her food and loves meal time. The vet first commented when meeting her was "boy, I bet she can really run"! And yes, she is spoiled! We could not have asked for better transition with our other 2 senior Dal's! She has even given them new found youth. She is becoming friends with our cat (as you can tell by the picture below).

Sally

Sally is so much like Kellie it's spooky. How can dogs have the same mannerisms, quirks, same ways? We are thankful because for us, we are not having to conform to anything new about her though we keep looking for it. Maybe with time some things will come out but so far they are so much alike it's weird. Also the 2 have really bonded. It's like they really understand they are here for each other first, ...us second. Sally loves to roll on her back in the yard and for us to scratch her back. When we got home from the groomer and she did that with the new haircut I didn't think she would stop. She scratched and rolled and moaned and ooo'd and ah'd and wiggled in the grass some more. She loved it! It was like oh wow! I can really feel it on my skin!! She is prancing and silly and playing with us as if she is all it and a bag of chips! She thinks she is so hot stuff today and you can tell she does! What a show!! Oh, also the bed lovin' we get is so awesome and she may stay longer now that she is cut and doesn't get so hot on the covers. Loves that belly rubbed!! They both look like puppies, act more like it and you would never guess Kellie is 16 &1/2 and is ill. Those are moments I am thankful for. I guess I will wear my welcome out saying what a great dog this is and how blessed we are to get her. Kellie will be leaving us for sure, and to have Sally, especially with all the amazing similarities, will be a comfort of Biblical proportions for sure. I still believe Sally has helped her immensely....like having someone who is not a 'human' understand.

Fernando

Fernando wanted to say hello and let you know that he is having fun! He has made a good adjustment and is doing well. We thought Tango would be a problem or the problem, but that has not been the case. Fernando has been slow to become friends with Tango but they are making good progress. Yesterday they had a stick and were playing tug-o-war briefly. Tango wants to play with Fernando so bad, but Fernando is still just not quite sure. Other than that, he is feeling very comfortable and was racing around the back yard, jumping around and having a lot of fun. I?m sure time will solve this as they interact side by side more and more each day. Inside the house Fernando has some toys he likes to carry around and play with, and has his own dog bed, that is his spot to relax and I think he likes having his own area. Tango has a spot on the other side of the room and we try to keep Zach away when he is relaxing. He loves to go on walks and ride in the car and does very well anywhere we take him. He has been running with me a bit, as I have been taking him on short runs, so he can get in shape and not over-do it. He was very excited to go last week-end as the weather was nice, we made many stops and his tail was wagging non-stop. Our daughter sometimes takes him along to play disc golf, he enjoys the exercise and socializing. We gave him his heart worm pill this month and have been reinforcing some basic things like sit, stay, shake and a few other things. He is smart and willing to learn. He did not like us touching his paws when he arrived, but now this not an issue (with spring weather comes mud, so we like to wipe their paws before they come inside). Overall his transition is going very well and he is happy! He is doing well and we hope you are too!

Elizabeth (Truely)

UPDATE: 12/29/11 Today our sweet Elizabeth crossed the Rainbow Bridge. After everything she had been through, she was able to spend her final days with a family that loved her completely and unconditionally. We know that God only wants the best back and we are simply grateful for the time He gave us with her. UPDATE! ELIZABETH is in a FOSTER HOME~ UPDATE: ELIZABETH FINALLY HAD HER SURGERY!! Thank you to ALL the wonderful folks who have helped make this possible. She is learning eat with half a bottom jaw and feels so good now that she actually GETS ON THE KITCHEN TABLE (little devil) and is feeling her cheerios for sure! Finally able to be free of that horrible weight and pain in her mouth! She looks sooooo cute with her little tongue hanging out now! Please enjoy the pics at the link below! Before and after! http://picasaweb.google.com/RSRcalendar/ElizabethTruely# THANK YOU TO YOU ALL who made this possible! YOU ALL ROCK! RSR Elizabeth was found in the middle of heavy traffic one dark night and taken to safety by a couple of wonderful rescue angels who contacted RockySpot. Unfortunately the sweetest most loving dog in the world has a tumor about 5 cm in her bottom jaw which is preventing her from eating properly, rotting all her teeth and forcing her tongue to hang out as the tumor continually to leave a trail of blood behind her. Such a sad thing for such a sweet loving dog. A dead end microchip at least told us her name and led us to the last vet who saw her about the tumor a very long 3 yrs ago when the owners took her away to euthanize instead of removing it. Since the owners are long gone, no one knows what happened to Elizabeth since then or why she was out on that busy dark road. All we know is that she has had to suffer with this massive growth in her mouth for way too long. RockySpot wants to remove it and end Elizabeth's long suffering.. BUT WE NEED YOU TO HELP US! The tumor removal estimate is anywhere from $700 to $1000 dollars which will involve removing part of her lower jaw. The vets assure us that this is a common procedure and she will recover and live life as any naturally born parrot mouthed dog would. Please help us repair Elizabeth's mouth so she can enjoy being a dog again and receive the love and attention she has been without for way to long. To donate to Elizabeth's care please click the paypal link on the home page of http://www.rockyspot.com and put FOR ELI in the comments. Or mail to RSR PO Box 98, Newcastle, OK 73065 or her vet at Neel Vet Hospital, ATTN RockySpot- Elizabeth 2700 N MacArthur, OKC, OK 73127. Elizabeth would say thank you.. if she could. We will say it for her! THANK YOU!!!

Powder

Update: 2/16/11

ADOPTED!!!!!

(From Powder's former foster mom)

"After much thought and careful consideration I have decided to keep [and adopt] "Powder" permanently. As I have taken the time to reflect on the last 7months, I have realized just how far "Powder" has come and how he has settled in here and considers it home. When I brought him home many months ago he was a skinny, very shy man and anything "new" was beyond scary. Whereas now, new things aren't close to scary, but are fun and enjoyable. He trusts me to take him places like the pet-store and do such simple things like a nail trim with little reservation, whereas months ago these trips and tasks involved much muscle and time. With the exception of his chewing he is a great dog! He has become a great companion and playmate for my Newfie and gets along well with the Chihuahuas and ignores the birds. I think he has made himself at home and as long as I kennel him when I am away from the house I think he feels he is "at home" and I agree.? - Jill

Thank you to ALL Of YOU who cross posted, worried and stood by us with emotional, physical and financial support to get this baby out of pain and his legs straightened so he CAN stand up if he wishes! And to those who offered to take him into their homes and their rescue programs when he was in crisis! And ESPECIALLY to Jill, his foster mom, for doing alot of soul searching and listening to her heart!

Update: 1/24/11

URGENT!! POWDER NEEDS A NEW FOSTER HOME!!! Things have not been going as well as we wanted and Powder although he CAN stand up straight is refusing too. After all the therapy and braces he has gained 30 lbs in back leg muscle and looks like a REAL NICE BUILT DANE but he still walks all hunkered over as that is what he is most comfortable with. He is the hardest headed dog ever and at his size it is hard to get him to do anything he does not want to do. His foster mom has too much stress in her life with the terminal illness of her other Dane and the other ill animals she has taken in from her job since she took Powder, not to mention she is so frustrated with him she is always in tears. Today she came home to her sofa totally destroyed and needs us to take Powder back ASAP. Please crosspost for Powder a new home or a new foster home. The home will have to realize he is very stubborn and has to be able to deal with his handicap.

Update: 11/9/10 (post op)

Powder has limited range of motion and extension in his back legs since he has NEVER had it and part of his therapy was to wear extension splints on each leg at night (THANK YOU DIANA for renting the splints for him). Needless to say that hardheadedness that got him through until now is coming into effect with these Splints/braces. POWDER HATES THEM.. poor guy. But he needs to wear them so he has learned his foster mom is JUST as hard headed! See update from Powder's foster mom

?Quick update on ?Powder?? He is doing well and is finally starting to give in to the splints. It isn?t perfect yet, but we are able to keep one splint on at a time for the 8 hours, so we are alternating legs each night? right, left, right, left. He is tolerating this pretty well. Pharmacologic intervention didn?t help! I am hopeful we may reach a point where he will tolerate both splints at the same time, but this is better than nothing. We are going to try adjusting the tension this weekend. More updates as we can!? ? Jill

Update: 10/18/10

POWDER IS BETTER! Link to his weekend pass from the vet is below

http://picasaweb.google.com/RSRcalendar/PowdersWeekendPass#

Update: 9/30/10

(From Powder's foster mom)

?Powder? had his second surgery yesterday to correct the deformities on his right hind leg. The performed a corrective osteotomy of the tibia to straighten the bone, and repaired his luxated patella (bone in his knee), moving it back into a more normal position. Additionally, they performed a muscle release on both hind legs to help give him more extension in the hind legs in the hopes he may stand up a little straighter. Fortunately for ?Powder? he was able to come home after surgery and not have to spend the night in the hospital. ?Powder? is doing well today, 24 hours after surgery. He is still non-ambulatory, and managing to convince us to cater to his every need. (I actually slept on the floor beside him last night as he was whining! I?m tired and my back hurts today!) He ate a small breakfast this morning before falling back asleep. I am hoping that tonight we can get him up and outside with some extra hands. Additionally, we are hoping to start some passive range of motion exercises if he will let us to help prevent the muscle release from scarring down too much and further restricting his extension. The plans for ?Powder? include post-operative pain management for the next two weeks, TLC (of course), along with some ?spoiling? at which time we will resume his physical therapy. He will return to the veterinary hospital at the end of the year for recheck radiographs, with the hopes that he has healed well. Good luck to ?Powder?! He has lots of doggy friends taking care of him now and providing him emotional support. We will try and get a picture of them curling up beside him.? -Jill

GUN POWDER!!!!!! BANG! OH MY GOSH WE HAVE MET GOAL!!!

Thanks to ALL OF YOU!! EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU! (check out that last donation!) We never thought it would be possible and here we are! WOW!! WHEW!! Pant pant!!! AMAZING! All you WONDERFUL WONDERFUL people... Powder must be the most loved dog in the world! For anyone who wants to donate toward his $58 a session water therapy let us know! He goes twice a week which is around $500 a month on top of his surgery funds! But he is doing SO well after 3 months of therapy that it is almost time for the next leg! Will keep you posted!

Update: 8/25/10

(From Powder?s foster mom)

?Here is a link to some pics of "Powder" in the treadmill. Next week I will try and get some of him during his U/S & laser therapy. He is hard to photograph!! http://picasaweb.google.com/RSRcalendar/PowderTreadmill#

He is doing great and each trip to rehab is more enjoyable than the last! He is going outside very happily with the vet students to go potty before his sessions and loves all the attention he receives!? - Jill

Update: 08/13/10

(From Powder?s foster mom)

"Powder did SOOO much better today. He came into the hospital much more willingly and was more social with everyone and the rehab tech got into the treadmill with him and he did really well. They took some pictures that they promised they would send them to me and I will forward them to you. We will make a Mc Donalds stop on our way home for some ice cream to end a very good day! I?m proud of him!" -Jill

Update: 7/29/10

Powder's follow up checkup and to reschedule his next leg surgery did NOT go well as we wanted. His first surgery has NOT healed well enough to continue. The vet wants to see him in a month (end of Sept) He says he needs MORE therapy.. MORE incline walking 2-4 times a day for 10 min each as he just is not cooperating in the current water treadmill so he is not getting full benefit. (see http://www.youtube.com/okfj.)

SO as hard as it was to let him go, Powder is now in Stillwater with a RVT who is going to do his walk therapy and continue his water therapy up there!

THANK YOU JILL and YOU GO POWDER (lucky dog you!)

Check back in a month to see if we have healed enough for the last surgery!

Update: 05/20/10

First leg surgery was May 20, 2010 and was a great success! THANK YOU!! Time to heal now!

POWDER (IMAGINE, if you will)

IMAGINE, if you will, a tiny white puppy locked alone in a crate, crying and pawing the bars as he watches the other puppies playing joyfully in the sun. He didn't know being deaf meant he was undesirable or unworthy. Born different and misunderstood, just as the title character in the movie Powder, he was kept hidden and labeled a freak, an outcast.

IMAGINE, if you will, being ignored for many long months, and finally giving up crying for help, knowing no one is listening. No one notices his pain, his loneliness, or his suffering. His quickly changing body adapts, resigning itself to an immobile life, growing until no longer able to stand or turn around in the crate. The now lanky double-merle puppy lives in pain, yet never complains. As he grows, nature painfully forces hips out of socket to make room for ever growing legs, kneecaps go askew as enlarging feet extend from cramped, twisted legs. The deaf pale white puppy with striking blue eyes and rapidly deforming legs becomes an example of the human capacity for cruelty of those deemed "different."

IMAGINE, if you will, finally bursting from that tiny prison into a world that has shown no mercy. Frightened, unable to hear or walk, this large puppy is tossed out and forgotten, without a backwards glance. But like in the movie, imagine this puppy possessing an amazing power? the power to love, to forgive, to forget, and most importantly an unfailing will to LIVE! Refusing to give up, despite hips out of socket, dislocated kneecaps and painfully twisted hind legs, he forces his malformed body to mobilize, and painfully ?walks? to his salvation. His mangled legs led him to a human who did not run in fear or turn her head, but instead saw the great potential and love in his pale blue eyes.

IMAGINE, if you will, Powder, a BEAUTIFUL 9 month old, 125lb Great Dane, deaf but undeterred, desperately needing FOUR $2,750 orthopedic surgeries to put hips back where they belong, to break and untwist two mangled legs and to replace long displaced knee caps.

IMAGINE, if you will, that puppy finally able to live his dream and play in the sun with the others. Imagine still his tortured life of pain and continued suffering, his very dark dismal future if there are no surgeries, if there is no help.

Imagine, if you will?

Despite his disturbingly odd appearance, it is impossible to ignore Powder?s gift for forgiveness, love and determination. Combined with his magnetic personality, this amazing puppy has the potential to change the lives of all those around him in ways one could never imagine.

Please help Powder FIGHT for his right to be a normal puppy!!

Katie

Katie was at the rescue for approximately 3 years awaiting the perfect home. Katie was at Petco with all her rescue family when one June day she saw her new owner passing by on his way to the bathroom from the grooming salon. Katie raised her front paw and gave "the look" and it was instant love.

"It took a couple of more months of persuasion because my new owner had to talk it over with his roommate. Finally in September they decided to give me a try and take me home. There was a beautiful and loving lady who was going to adopt me a few years earlier but had to move out of state and could not adopt me. Well this loving lady was so HAPPY to hear I had found a new home she showed what an angel she is and paid all my adoption fees, so I kind of got two families. I get to snooze on the sofa whenever I want and play lots with my squeaky ball and chase cats on the other side of the fence." -KATIE

Katie is in heaven and doing wonderful. She is loved and adored every minute of the day. Katie has put on a few pounds with her delicious Nature's Recipe food. Katie even gets a variety as we switch flavors just to keep things interesting. Oh, I have not had any problems as the food is so good my "back door" does not get runny or clogged. Katie's favorite thing is to snuggle up on the sofa and get lots of petting and loving while she falls off to sleep.. I want to thank everyone at Rocky Spot for completing our family. Magic my 12 year old dalmatian is comfortable with the new member. Katie has been with us a little over 2 1/2 years and fits like a glove. God bless you all... (and We will never admit that our dogs gets lots of great treats and might be spoiled).

Dot

I have a new home! I have a new home! I also have a new brother Gene and a new sister Lucy who ALSO was adopted from RockySpot a few years ago and boy do we have alot to talk about! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR HELPING ME FIND MY FAMILIY!!! Dot

Megan

Since 12/23 Megan has done very well. Her and Jack get along well, though they don?t play together. She is much the lap dog and seems to need constant attention. She can always be found laying in your lap, at someone?s side or close by. As I write this she is laying on the floor with a chew. She loves to ride and to take walks. She has so much fun with her toys and is so funny when she is rolling around the floor on her back. We went to the vet on Friday, she is 46.3 lbs. We bought her some premium dog food Christmas eve, she eats some but not as much as we would like. She is very interested in the kitchen counter and the table but no people food for her. The vet said need to get her something to chew to take care of those dirty back teeth. We finally got her to chew something. She has a bath coming in her future. Things are great thank you so much!

Treaty

Hi there. Just wanted to update you on Treaty. We have decided she is very much a keeper, so we are claiming her as ours! We have changed her name to Coco - Treaty was confusing both dogs (and me!) so she is now Coco. She is a jewel and we love her. All that have seen her just rave at how cute and loving she is. Dr. Giles couldn't pin point her dominant breed, so he just calls her a "premium blend" and we agree.

Chloe Do

Chloe is doing just great - can you believe she's been with us now for almost 3 weeks - and I think she actually likes it here! We got a beautiful red sweater for her when it started getting cold but unfortunately it's a big too tight - she is really thick around the middle - so I ordered a canine parka in the next size up to use this winter - should be here in about a week. Chloe is still worried about being left outside alone - when we go out back she constantly checks behind her to make sure one of us is still there and whenever I step back inside she runs to the door and paces and whines - this may take a while for her to feel secure outside alone. When we have to leave the house I usually give her a few snack biscuits on her bed and when we get back she will be sleeping in the office - her favorite place to sleep for some reason. We do mix veggies and rice (and warm water) in with her meals and recently it's been green beans. Chloe is definitely a good eater - she gets fed breakfast and dinner - 2 meals a day - with biscuits and treats mid-day, and always fresh water available which she enjoys. She scarfs the meals down like she's starving and is constantly rooting around for more food like she is always hungry All in all, Chloe seems to be a happy camper - becoming more and more of a "tail-wagger", she nuzzles her face into me when we sit together and bounces around in the yard when we're all doing things outside. We're expecting our youngest son and family to come up from Texas over the Christmas holiday - so that should be more people for Chloe to meet.

Oreo (Rupert)

Dear Tee: Well, its been a little over 24 hours since my new mommy and daddy picked me up. All the way home they talked about how great it was to meet you. Mommy kept saying thank God that there is someone like you to take such good care of us until we can go home. When I got to my new house, It was kind of weird. They took me in the back yard first, and took me off my leash. I ran around the yard, but made sure that I kept an eye on my mom and dad. When we went in, they fed me and I decided to check out my new digs. I decided that the corner of the sectional couch is the perfect spot for me to love both mommy and daddy, right in the middle, is where I belong. I slept in the middle of them in the big bed too! But daddy called me a blanket hog, I didn't know I looked like a little piggy, I thought I had spots. Mommy went to work early in the morning, but she didn't forget to give me a breakfast cookie before she left. Daddy called her at work, because he thought it was funny that I sat and stared at the door for over an hour after she left. What can I say, I missed her. When she got home, me, mommy and daddy went for a nice hike at the park. I love being in my new home. Mommy cant stop kissing and hugging me all the time, and daddy keeps telling me that I'm a good boy. ( Don't tell him how much I like it cause I know I'm a good boy, I'll just let him keep thinking he needs to tell me) Mommy taught me a new trick. She pulls out a water gun and says bang, and I fall on the floor and roll on my back. I think she thinks its funny, but hey it gets me a cookie. I'm training my parents pretty well. They love to pet me all the time! I have remembered all the manners you taught me. I don't beg, or jump on the counter, and when they are done eating, as long as I minded my manners, I get a treat. I didn't even chase the yucky ol' barn cat that lives outside. Mommy said that we can come and visit someday, and maybe we'll bring home a brother or sister for me. She said that I am so well behaved, that she could take 100 more like me, and doesn't want me to be lonely. How can I be lonely, I have my own mommy and daddy now. I just don't want you to ever think I will forget how much you all did for me. Even though I have a new home of my own now, I will always remember why I have it. Because of you and all the volunteers that cared, I can live the rest of my life happy, and spoiled. Please don't be sad that I left, know that I will always have a big place in my heart for you all. Mommy is right, if it was not for you all, I wouldn't be here today! I made mommy cry today by accident. She said that she could not imagine anyone not wanting me, and passing me up. But I know the reason, God had plans for me. He knew that mommy and daddy really wanted the perfect dog. And because of you, Here I am! Mommy says that she is gonna send you pictures soon. It seems like all she does is take pictures of me, lol, and I love it. I just wanted to write to you and let you know that I am ok, and very happy! Thank you for everything, and keep up the amazing work with all the dogs that need you now, and will in the future. I cant wait to come and visit Love, Oreo (Rupert)

Mac

Hi, I am just reporting back to let everyone know that Mac is doing just great! He's adjusting very well and we are all enjoying his company :) He did cry a little bit as we were leaving the rescue, poor thing, but he calmed down pretty quickly. He's fitting in quite well, Penny is the one who may need a few more days to fully adjust. The first night, Penny and I slept in one bed and Mac and Carlos in the other because we weren't sure how they would be in the same bed. The next night we all slept in the same bed!! (We'll need a much bigger one if that continues to be the situation) He's eating very well; he eats almost like he grew up in the military!! He did wake up Sunday morning at 6 a.m. looking for his breakfast bone, but as soon as he got it, he went back to bed. Penelope has brought out a little bit of a playful side in him and they get along great!!

Emmitt

Deefer

Copper (Deefer's new name) is doing great. He seems happy and at home, and is getting along great with the cat. More as he settles in! John

Molly

Molly has adjusted extremely well to her new home and has definitely filled the loss of our first Dalmatian Gracie whom we had for 13 years. Molly is full of energy and is 150% addicted to her collection of balls. This, coupled with her boxy frame, tends to make us think she has some Boxer in her. The tail is constantly wagging to the point that it has bled off and on after hitting the corners of walls. I am sure this is her temperament, but also she still is expressing her overwhelming joy for being rescued and spoiled beyond belief. We said " Molly will not sleep in our bed this time around like our first Dal", but of course this quickly went by the wayside and has adopted our King bed as her official nighttime sleeping area. We hope to get her to play with others better, but around people she is overly sweet and playful. Thanks again for keeping her safe for 6 months; she is obviously where she was meant to be. The Teppers - St. Louis, MO

Simba

My mom is keeping me!! My mom is KEEPING ME!! She loves me.. she really really loves me! I am on some meds that has gotten some of my eye sight back and now she understands how much I love her and would DIE without her. I LIVE for her. I love her so much.. so she decided that no one would EVER love her as much as I do and she better hang on to me! YIPPIE! I get to stay with my mommy! She says I am her Christmas Present.. I think she is mine! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Simba

Cissy

ADOPTED WITH BOO! We now live in the warm sunny (yet sometimes rainy) state of FLORIDA!!! Boy what a drive that was but well worth it! More on our new home later!

Shay

Shay's an absolute doll! Thank you for teaching her to love! I'd say she is adjusting very well. My husband loves her! She is so playful and smart, such a pretty, sweet little gal. Our Kyla, age 6, has fun with her and is learning the responsibility of feeding the dog. Shay is like my little shadow around the house following me when I leave the room. We go for walks after Kyla gets on the bus, then toss the ball in the back yard and she loves to bring it back for more - and more - and more!!! There's still snow on the ground so she runs and slides through parts of it like she's having a blast! We have a 2 yr old cat who has been in hiding since she's not been around dogs and will run from Shay. Shay would like to give chase if she could get away with it, but is very obedient to stop. We also have a 3 mo old kitten (George) who isn't such a frady cat, also black and white. George is around the house a lot more than the older one and I can see him and Shay becoming buddies with a little more time. She is so good in the house. I took her to the vet this morning. Dr. Deb says she's healthy, very cute and sweet and said we sure got lucky! We are trying to help Shay learn not to jump up on us, even though she just wants to convey her enthusiasm and affection. This morning on the way to the vet, Shay spotted a jogger down the sidewalk from us and barked. I had to think it was because of the college girls who fostered her and took her jogging. I think she was ready to go for a run! We just love her and she was certainly worth the drive to get her!

Macy

Update November 2011: Macy made it to TV! UPDATE August 2010: Macy has been in training for her debut as Sandy in the Musical "Annie" and had her first stage performance at a Middle School in Ct and did WONDERFUL. From Macy's handler; Of course, Macy is doing very well! BETTER than well, actually! I've spent a lot of time with privately owned dogs and adopted dogs, both before & after they have found their forever homes, and Macy is absolutely one of the BEST dogs I have ever been blessed to know & spend time with! She is perfectly balanced in every area, learns quickly, and has been a wonderful addition to our pack! We hope someday that you will get to see her, maybe in a production near you! Although, I would love to be able meet you, too! Sending *hugs* and wet kisses from Macy! Lori ROCKYSPOT MACY in the "SPOTLIGHT"

This local Newcastle, all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue has hit the big time in the form of a lovable scruffy dog named MACY who will play Sandy in the legendary Broadway musical Annie. There's no confirmation on dates or a venue just yet for the comical Macy's debut, but many expect sensationalism out of this little abandoned mutt from a small Oklahoma animal shelter.

Picked up as a starving stray by PAWS (Pontotoc County Animal Welfare Society) Rescue, a local non-profit private shelter contracted with the city of Ada, Macy was given the legal 72 hours of holding time, before spatial issues could dictate her future, fighting for a space amongst the endless number of homeless animals coming into the shelter. Due to her cute looks and outgoing attitude, Macy avoided euthanasia but spent many months overlooked in the crowded, cramped cages that make up the scary chaos of a shelter environment.

Fortunately, Macy was chosen to enter the A New Leash On Life, Inc. Pen Pal Prison Dog Program at CCA-Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville, OK, a non-profit organization dedicated to training dogs and changing lives. The Pen Pal Program selects dogs from local shelters and rescue groups to live in the prison for 10 weeks with the inmates and receive basic manners training. Unfortunately, despite being a model student, Macy was the only dog at the end of the program scheduled to return to a kill shelter instead of an adoptive home or no-kill rescue. Seeing something magical in Macy, RockySpot Rescue brought her home with us Newcastle. And just 3 short months later, none other than the famous Broadway animal handler and avid dog lover Bill Berloni found his next shaggy star!

Featured on numerous talk shows and in countless magazines and publications, Bill Berloni is currently recognized in the January 2010 issue of Dog Fancy Magazine as one of the top 40 people in history who have influenced the dog world. He will also be featured in an informational article in Ladies Home Journal's January 2010 edition. Widely recognized as an expert in animal behavior and for his dedication to rescue work, Bill is also a behavior consultant to the Humane Society of New York, a no-kill shelter that supports rescued animals in New York City.

For more than 30 years, William Berloni's Theatrical Animals has provided animals trained to meet the demands of live performances ? from Broadway to ballet ? as well as film, television and commercial work. His animals have worked on Broadway productions such as Legally Blonde, The Wiz and Annie Get Your Gun. His film work includes Charlie Wilson's War and The Producers. His new book is Broadway Tails: Heartfelt Stories of Rescued Dogs Who Became Showbiz Superstars.

Playing the legendary role of Sandy in the Broadway musical Annie will be no easy task, but after what Macy has overcome, she is sure to amaze. With a sweet, easygoing persona, and scruffy funny face that will tug at your emotions, this lovable leggy Oklahoma stray will steal the spotlight ? and your heart.

TEE!! Moms sending in the paperwork for my tags! She even made me a doctors appt on Saturday at 8:30a. She's crazy. I can't do that! She has to push me out of bed in the mornings when she gets up for work. Its ok becuase she pushes the snooze button all the time and I'm pretty sure that if she had the choice, she'd sleep in with me. I'm loving sleeping in the bed with her. Its big and comfy and we cuddle! I did wake her up from a nap on Sunday though because there were people coming in that I didn't know. I get so excited when people come over I start to bark! The bid is really nice tho. When mom's just sitting and Toto leaves me alone, I love to put my head in her lap and take a nap! Toto's lots of fun now that I'm used to him. He still doesnt understand that my bone is mine tho. He thinks its funny to take all FOUR and hide them from me! He doesn't like to share i guess. We play nicely tho. Mom was laughing at us last night becuase we kept jumping on her and then jumping off the bed. The house is kind of small but mom takes us on walks whenever she gets the chance. I love walking up and down our outside stairs but the inside ones are steep and they scare me. I only go up those. Our family is funny! Ashley & Tyty and Ashley & Toto. It gets so confusing sometimes! Both girls have people over all the time. Last night was the first night it was just us four all week long. Today was also the first day I was able to stay outside while mom was at work. It would be chilly for a dal but for me its just great! Mom said when it stays around 40 or is raining, snowing, or hailing, I'll probably stay inside. I gotta go! Toto is tugging on my ears! Puppy love! Tyler

Two Bit

I first met Two Bit when his daddy Petey had died and RSR had gotten Rodney from the Yukon Shelter. It was over a weekend I remember because Chuck & Tee were on their way to Neel Vet to leave Petey there for the Pet cemetary to pick him up and have Rodney evaluated. They were bringing Two Bit because he could not be separated from his daddy. I met them at Neel Vet. This was at the same time I was given the diagnosis of cancer for our personal dalmatian Peetie and we were given 3 weeks for him to live. I was devastated at the time. I knew there was something wrong with our dog but I didn't know it was so serious. Our Peetie was approx 14 years old. Theresa & Chuck told me before my arriving at Neel Vet that Two Bit probably would not come up to me so not to get my feelings hurt. They also told me that Two Bit was hearworm positive and would need treatment once he settled down without his daddy. When I first saw him (Two Bit) it was LOVE at first sight (at least it was for me) and he did come up to me - several times. I whispered in his ear that when my Peetie died from his cancer that I would take him home with me and take care of him for his heartworms and I promised to spoil him rotten. I didn't see him again until the labor day cookout when Theresa and Chuck brought him out to me again but he didn't remember me and ran back into the rescue. He was sooooo scared. He had bonded to Nubby at this time. He has to have a dog to bond with and to take care of! So I got my feelings hurt - My Peetie was still alive and I was trying to enjoy every minute of his life with him. Then one afternoon I came home from work and my husband had dinner ready for us to eat and I notice my Peetie was not in his kennel. I asked where he was and my huband answered - he's outside. I kept eating only realizing my Peetie NEVER stayed away from me very long and he was still not back in the house. I started to go outside to see what had happened to him thinking he had accidently gotten out the fence and my husband stopped me and told me the news. My Peetie had crossed the Bridge before I had gotten home. I was awful. I was mad at the world and most of all because he did not wait for me to come home to say Good Bye before he left. I couldn't even think of bringing another dog home now - how could I? But I remembered my promise to Two Bit. It was too soon now to bring him here. I was a basket case - our house didn't know what had happened. All I did was cry - couldn't eat or sleep. I told Theresa I would come on Saturday and get him but I still wasn't ready when Saturday came. The volunteers were cleaning at the rescue that Saturday when I got a phone call from Angie saying she was on her way with Two Bit. She was bringing him to me. Oh my Gosh! He was coming after all and I had to pull myself together for him. He was so scared when they got out of her car. I grabbed his lease and hugged him and kissed him and reminded him of my promise. We spent Saturday night together and then Sunday morning our personal cocker spaniel, Chasie was very sick and we had to rush her into Neel Vet for IV fluids. Chasie was in kidney failure. We left her for the day and had to go back that evening to see how she was doing. We left Two Bit in my bedroom for 4 hours and he was fine when we came home. We got to bring Chasie home with us but were given the news that she would soon be leaving us very soon. Her kidney values were off the charts and there was not much we could do. Not another one! My heart broke again. The next Monday we left for work leaving Two Bit out with the others - surely there would be one dog for him to bond with! My husband came home at lunch to find that Two Bit had torn down the doggie gate into the sunroom and had torn all the blinds down trying to get out the windows - He had separation anxiety. I told Phil to lock him in my bedroom where he had been over the weekend with me and the windows were up higher so he couldn't hurt himself. I came home from work that evening and he had torn down the curtains and blinds in that room too and there was some blood on the wall! My heart hurt again - Poor Two Bit. I e-mailed Theresa and told her I was bringing him back - he wasn't happy here and I was scared he would break a window and really hurt himself and run away and we would never find him! She told me I would have to crate him and had to remind me (yes me) of how long it takes rescue dogs to settel in I am the one giving those lectures to others! That evening we went to Neel Vet at 11:30 pm to get some Ace so we could crate him and Two Bit not to hurt himself until he became familiar with his surroundings. That morning around 2:00 am our personal cocker - Chasie became very ill and we knew what we would have to do come later that day. Only ONE week ago we lost our dalmatian Peetie and now Chasie. These were our two personal dogs that started our invovlment in rescue to begin with. AT 3:30 that afternoon we sent Chasie to the bridge with Peetie and I was a basket case. Poor Two Bit had come to the crazy house. Not long before that he had done the same thing. Two Bit sleeps with me EVERY night and right next to me. I am in LOVE with him and he is with me too. He has saved me and I am going to save him. He is the most PERFECT dog we have ever had in our house. He gets along with all the dogs. He is housebroken. He pushes me off the bed with his nose when he has to got outside in the middle of the night! How could someone not want him and how could someone have kept him outside! I think God had this all in his plans a long time ago. I still cry for my dogs and I know he cries for his Petey too. He licks me years away and every once in awhile I get a kiss. We just sit and stare at each other all the time and he is always by my side. He NEVER leaves me alone and I am always with him when I am home. Two Bit will soon start his heatworm treatment. I will take care of him like I promised and he's going to be okay. We will both have a good Christmas this year regardless of our losses - We have each other. He will get his picture taken with Santa and I will be able to take him with me when he is well. We want to wish everyone Happy Holidays. Oh and PS - Two Bit (the perfect Dalmatian) is NOT for adoption ! He is ADOPTED ! The Cappony Stroud Family (God Bless Peetie & Chasie Stroud) We miss you!

She came to us so frail and weak
It was a struggle just to eat

We all love her so much

Candance

Happy Tails for Candi & Oreo By Debbie Liles Fort Worth, TX On December 27, 2007, our remaining ?First Generation? Dalmatian, Pepper, died. I was ?dogless? for the first time in 15 years, and I was miserable and lonely. It was because of the wonderful experience we had had with Pepper, Bailey, and Bowser, that I had to immediately begin looking for new Dals to have in our life. In January 2008, I began looking for rescue Dals. I looked first at North Texas Dalmatian Rescue because they were the closest rescue to us, but they turned us down because they ?only adopt out pets to be inside.? I looked to the next nearest rescue, which happened to be RockySpot Rescue in Newcastle, OK. We were immediately smitten with the photos of Candace. Candi had a very sad story. She had apparently been dumped by the side of the road with her brand new puppies. Unfortunately, 2 of her 4 pups had already been hit by cars and killed. Such a shame, she was just a puppy herself. When found, she was taken to the Pasadena, TX animal shelter, where the Dalmatian network got involved. Her remaining 2 puppies found homes quickly. Once in the hands of caring rescue workers, it was soon determined that not only was she heartworm positive and severely under weight, she also had a huge urinary stone (at her age!!!) that would?ve soon killed her. So, she was spayed and the stone was removed. Candace was being fostered by an amazing woman, Patsy Perkins, in Aledo, TX, just about 25 miles from us. We quickly let Theresa at RockySpot know of our interest in Candace. On January 28, 2008, Patsy Perkins called me to set up a house visit. Candace was her first foster. The following Friday, February 8, Patsy and another rescue lady visited our house to make sure we would be suitable adoptive parents. That Sunday, we made our first visit to Patsy?s house to meet Candace. Candy had begun her heartworm treatment, and she was in quiet seclusion. She was a tiny, petite, feminine thing. Very calm and docile. I thought, ?What amazing maturity for such a young dog!? She was so pretty with her one blue eye and one brown eye ? very distinctive. She seemed to take to us immediately. She was sweet, loving, gentle, and very laid back. We decided to contact Theresa at RockySpot to request Candace, whom we had decided to name Candi. Fortunately, that all worked out. Because she was in the midst of her heartworm treatment, she would not be available to us until early March. Patsy continued to send us e-mail updates and photos of Candi until she was released by the vet. We had had 3 Dalmatians the first go round, but I was extremely hesitant to ask my husband, Bryan, for 3 again. I was thankful for one (Candi), but I really wanted at least two. He knew how depressed and lonely I was over the loss of Bowser in mid-October 2007 and Pepper in late December 2007. He really wanted to wait awhile before getting dogs again. So he was very kind to indulge me. I continued to look at all the available male Dals at RockySpot. On Saturday, February 9, Bryan & I made our first trek to RockySpot to meet the Dals that had most caught our eye: Spencer, Oreo, Eugene, and Kipper. We spent a couple of hours there socializing. Spencer was strongly being considered by a lady in the Virgin Islands, so mentally, we ruled him out, though Bryan really liked him. Kipper was quite young and seemed pretty frightened and apprehensive. He was the new kid on the block. Eugene was a very dominant personality ? very playful, rambunctious, a bit mischievous, and quite a leader ? also a counter surfer. Oreo was quiet and a bit aloof. With other dogs around, he would not assert himself but just kind of fade into the background. We weren?t really sure what to make of him. He seemed to like any attention he got, he just didn?t demand it. After that visit, we were a bit stumped. So Theresa continued to monitor the dogs and write me about their personalities. Bryan and I went back to RockySpot the following weekend, which was Valentine?s weekend. The goal was to decide on the male dog and bring him home with us. We narrowed the field down to Eugene & Oreo. We discovered that when there weren?t other dogs around to compete or be the alpha, that Oreo was very accepting, demonstrative, submissive, calm, gentle, loving, and quite mature. And he was a gorgeous boy! Beautiful markings and lots of spots. We also thought Oreo would be best because he would probably allow Candi to be "QUEEN" and Eugene just might vye for that head dog position. We learned that Oreo had been an owner turn-in. Apparently the couple had young grandchildren and were worried that Oreo would not be warm and receptive to them. We also learned that Oreo had a thyroid disorder and would need to be on thyroid meds for the rest of his life. When he first arrived at RockySpot, I believe he was 65 -70 pounds. So we decided on Oreo and brought him home that weekend. I rode in the back seat with Oreo, and we bonded on that 3-hour drive. He nudged me and rubbed on me and flopped down and laid his head in my lap. He managed to cuddle up in my lap as much as possible the entire way home. What a love bug! He was excellent riding in the car. No issues whatsoever. I think he became my soul mate on the ride home! We had Oreo for 3 weeks before Candi was due to come home. He was completely housebroken! We had not one issue with him marking anything in the house or pottying in the house. The adjustment was so easy. He never missed a beat. We installed a great doggie door so Oreo could come and go as he pleased. Theresa at RockySpot had warned us that it was pretty risky to adopt 2 dogs that had never spent any time together. So, when it was time to pick up Candi, Patsy Perkins had us bring Oreo out to her house so they could meet on more neutral turf. That was a really good thing as we later discovered by accident that Candi is NOT accepting of other animals at all! So God must?ve been at work that day when Candi & Oreo met. There were no issues and things went fine. (In the 1-1/2 years that we?ve had them, they?ve only had 2 Mexican stand-offs, and it was all we could do to keep from laughing!) What we?ve come to learn over the last year and half is that, for the most part, we have 2 really great ?kids.? They do both have some quirky traits that we?re now aware of and try to avoid. They are both very tactile, quite loving, and they completely enjoy our 3/4 of an acre with all the trees (and birds, and squirrels, and possums, etc). They also love to ride in the car. They both LOVE to eat! They are both on Royal Canine SO food since they are both stone formers.) They inhale their food! They greatly enjoy doggie bone biscuits and baby carrots for snacks. They adore sleeping with us, which they get to do on the weekends. And let me say it is tight quarters in a queen size bed! Candi gets right between Bryan and me as near our heads and the pillows as possible. She moves a good bit. Oreo sleeps at our feet and never budges. When not sleeping with us, they both love to be wrapped in a blanket or big towel, whether in their beds or on the couch. It?s like their little den, and they curl up tight and duck their heads under the covers, oblivious to the world around them. Candi will kiss and lick you to death. She LOVES people. She is a wiggle butt, and her tail is always wagging. She will worm her way in and break up any attention you may be giving Oreo (or the computer for that matter). If she wants to be petted, she will nudge her way in and stand on 2 legs beside you until she gets the attention she wants! She is very content jumping up on the couch next to either Bryan or me and just napping beside us. She smiles a lot. Not a Dalmatian ?smarl,? but a true smile. She gives fabulous, long tongue kisses at the drop of a hat and she adores ?kissing? Daddy. She yawns a lot, too. The more you rub her neck and ears, the more she yawns. It?s the cutest thing. Candi can be a crazy, juvenile delinquent canine running faster than greased lightning at one moment, wiping out all over the place, and the next minute, she can be this incredibly calm, laid back dog that will practically fall asleep next to you at the drop of the hat. It is the funniest thing we?ve ever seen. We say she plays hard and sleeps hard! She will let you do anything to her ? nothing seems to bother her ? no phobias with respect to being around her ears, eyes, mouth, toes, nails, etc. Candi is lean and athletic and now weighs about 42 pounds as opposed to the 29 when Patsy first fostered her. When she spots something in the yard, she leaps off the back porch (to take the stairs would be to waste time) and loves to chase squirrels and birds and has caught some of both! It is entertaining to see her stalk her prey! She loves to wallow in the grass and just bask in the sunshine. She also loves Daddy?s tomato garden! We wondered why we weren?t getting many tomatoes off the vines until one day I noticed Candi?s fur was full of yellow pollen streaks. I caught her with a huge tomato in her mouth (maybe she thought it was a ball). Now we know where all the tomatoes went! Candi is also a very adept, sly counter surfer! One time I had tortillas out on the counter and was in the process of making burritos. I thought I had them pushed far back enough on the counter so as not to be a temptation to the dogs, neither of which has been much of a counter surfer. I went outside for a few minutes to check with Bryan on something. When I returned to the kitchen, the empty tortilla wrapper was on the floor in shreds! I looked at both dogs, both of whom looked completely innocent and were oblivious to my shock! I have no idea which one of them ate 5 tortillas, or if they shared, but there was no blood, so at least they didn?t fight over them! A couple of other times, we caught Candi devouring raw ground round meat that we had outside to thaw, and another time, she inhaled 2 pounds of sliced barbecued brisket. And she never puts on a pound! We?re learning that nothing is out of Candi?s reach! Things Candi doesn?t like: (1) Storms. She will jump the fence and run to our bedroom, jump on our bed, and burrow down in the covers to feel safe. (2) The vacuum ? she will run outside when I am running it (which is at least every other day because they shed so much!). (3) Other animals! She lunges at every dog within her reach at the dog park or any dog outside our fence. She runs up and down our fence proclaiming her domain and letting ?intruders? know the same! She has worn the grass bare along our fence row as she patrols our yard. (4) Being sprayed with flea spray. I have to pour it onto a cloth and rub it into her. We say, ?Oh, Candi!? and ?Candi Girl? a lot! She probably thinks her name is ?O?Candi? or ?Candi Girl? as opposed to Candi. One day in April this year, I got home from work early and Bryan was about to go run at the park. I wanted to take Oreo for a walk. He is so good on a leash, but Candi is not! She is very strong and will drag you for yards before you can get control! Besides, we learned once at the dog park that Candi would attack any dog around her, whether bigger or smaller. So, we were walking out the door with Oreo when Candi leaped the doggy gate in the kitchen. And after that, there was no turning back for Candi. Now, whenever she wants, she hops the gate to appease her curiosity or separation anxiety. Oreo can be very playful and frisky. He and Bryan have this game where Bryan will try to grab Oreo?s ?mouth-eater, chin-choppers,? etc. Bryan holds his hand out like a claw and moves in closer and closer to Oreo. Oreo watches out of the corner of his eye and gradually opens his mouth wider and wider and then ?play? snaps at Bryan?s hand. It?s the funniest thing! Oreo also loves to roll on our bed. Then he takes his front paws and covers his eyes and nose with his paws like he is embarrassed! Again, the funniest thing! During our dinner, Oreo will stand at the doggy gate and look at us like, ?Let me out, it?s time for bonding!? He will stand up on 2 legs, hold on to the top of the doggy gate, stretch, whine, and plop down. He will also take his paw and pop the gate to remind us that he?s feeling lonely. I call Oreo ?Buddy? a lot more than I call him ?Oreo.? That?s because he is my buddy. When I say ?Oreo,? it?s more like ?OR-E-O,? like I?m spelling it out. Oreo is very tolerant of Candi. He also taught her to use a doggie door! Oreo is good with other dogs ? at the doggy park he can take them or leave them, but he doesn?t cause a scene or become aggressive. He is basically a couch potato at heart. He is very protective of the door bell and our house. That?s usually the only time he barks is when the door bell rings or there are ?intruders? in the house. He is timid and cautious with strangers at first. We?ve found that for some reason, he doesn?t always take to men. We?ve had a few close encounters with him being aggressive toward men. So we really have to be careful and cautiously get him acclimated. Oreo is not particularly fond of the vacuum cleaner either. But he doesn?t run away from it, he usually tries to bite it or attack it! He doesn?t really love baths, but he will tolerate them. I wonder when Oreo really sleeps. He always seems to have one eye open ? so he doesn?t miss anything. The thyroid med has been a godsend. Oreo is 51 pounds and looks fabulous. He does on occasion like to get into the bathroom trash can and tear up the used tissues (why I don?t know), but that has been the extent of any destructive behavior. Candi has never had an accident in the house and quickly took to the doggy door. She uses it 10 times more than Oreo because she really prefers being outside on patrol. Again, she has not exhibited a single destructive behavior. She quickly adjusted to us and our home. Oreo and Candi have given us so much joy, happiness, and laughter! Thank goodness for RockySpot Rescue! This has definitely been a God-thing, and I love it when that occurs because I can give Him all the glory!

Dear Theresa and my new friends: Oh my Gosh!!!!!! This little one is the most perfect little girl. I have already fallen in love with her! And my husband just adores her. All the way home she gave me kisses, and talked to me. She was asking me where all her "people" were, and where were all of her friends. She is still exploring the house. We didn't get home until after midnight, but she had to check everything out! I took her downstairs this morning to the office, so I could e-mail you and send you some pics. She is lying on the floor right now being ever so patient. I slept on the floor with her last night, and again she gave me kisses all night long. She finally fell asleep around 2:00. She woke up again around 4 something, but then slept until 8:30. I don't think she is crazy about our snow here--but hopefully it won't last for too much longer (right). I will need to buy more rugs for the ceramic floor and wood floors. Oh, before I forget, how much was Perdy's airfare, so I can send you a check? And I will send the heating pad also. Theresa, she is so little. And her little tail is constantly on the move. I love to hold her, and her skin is just so soft. She is just my pride and joy!! What amazed me so much about her is she "talks". It is so funny and cute. And she cuddles!! This dog was a perfect match for us!! Well, I had better get a move on. I will write again soon, and keep you updated on her progress. By the way, I love the pictures of you with Perdy. You have such a gorgeous smile! Rest assured that your little one will be well cared for and greatly loved!! Big hugs, Mary

Hi!! We have been outside all day,and then to visit Erinn and Ryan and meet Ollies new cousin Sam!! He fit in immediately. No gas not grumpy kids, well except The Bitch (Hanah - Pom)!! No one got excited. He acted as if he had lived here all his life! We dinked around outside in the yard until almost dark. A lot of catching up to do and was great for him too. He loves Kelsie (the wire-weenie)! They played and played! Riley (Yorkie) is not sure about him yet, but they played too. Cousin Sam (Golden) was a bit intimidated by him!! Too funny. Sam is such a sensitive kid. And of course Ollie says hey dude lets play! Eventually they got the wrinkles ironed out. They talked across the room for a bit then went to it like Gandalph and he do! I am sitting here with Hannah on one side of me on the couch and ollie on the other side of me. Bonnie at my feet on her bed, Kelsie chewing on a nylabone beside Ollie and of course Riley is running around in circles he just doesn't know what to do!! Jack (choc lab) is of course here too on his bed opposite end of room snoring! So we are one big happy family. Great now Riley has jumped up on my arms helping me type!! Lol. I am in doggie heaven! All my furbabies are content after a very long day! Of course Erinn and Ryan adored Ollie on sight. I knew they would. So the big day has almost ended and Ollie is a very tired kid. But seems to be content. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about his short little life and all he has endured. But at least he came to Tee and Rockyspot, and now has a forever home with us. He is such a dear sweet boy. And will round our family out. Thanks to everyone for the help in this adventure!! Melissa, Ollie-Jack & the whole Lerten Gang!

Aunt Theresa, Just wanted to give you an update. I have been ohhhh sooo good at my new home. Well except for the 3 fights I got into with Allie. It wasn?t really my fault though mom and dad says 50 % of it was. I have been to Kansas City to see my grandma. I did really good except I still think I should get to ride shot gun in the big truck instead of dad. Allie and me tag teamed the cat in the back yard but we still couldn?t catch her. I am eating all my food and drinking the water mom puts in my food. I really like to lay on mom on the couch while she tries to watch t.v. That way she can only see ME and not her favorite programs. Dad says we need a bigger bed, don?t know why. I always have plenty of room, I just stretch out and keep kicking him until he scoots over. (Allie taught me that trick). I have taught Allie how to chew on her feet. She is doing a great job of it! Allie seems to be feeling better, still drinks a lot of water. She has to go see the doctor again next week. She is a little wobbly in the back end but other then that, doing quite well. We give each other lots of kisses and support. She even lets me curl up by her. Mom still won?t let me in the Jacuzzi, I will keep trying. It looks like fun. I wrote my first dad but haven?t heard back from him. I want him to know I have a good home. The only bad thing is that when I ride in the big truck, mom won?t let me hang my head out of the window while we are going down the road. She says I could get a bug in my eye. Other then that, life is good here. Sometimes when mom comes home she smells like old people and other times like really good food?sausage or hamburgers. I really like the latter. Tell all my pals at Rocky Spot Spa and Retreat hi for me. Grins and Kisses, Hershey

Aunt Theresa,
I like it here. The very first night I jumped in bed and laid across all the pillows as I decided to take the softest spot. Last night I slept curled up beside my new sister Allie, on the bed of course. I did give mom and dad back their pillows as Allie said I shouldn?t take advantage of them and should let them have the pillows. I met my 2 legged grandma and my 2 legged sister and brother. They gave me lots of attention. When they were petting Allie, there were enough humans so I could just go to someone else to be petted. I am going to the vet tomorrow to have my itchy checked. Allie has to go too so she will introduce me to my dr. I follow mom around all the time, but I don?t whine like crybaby Allie does when mom has to leave. I am tired so I think I will take a nap. After that I will explore the backyard more. Mom said I had to stay out of the Jacuzzi though, we will see. I will give you an update in a week or so.
Thank you for keeping me until mom and dad could find me,
paws and grins,
Hershey

Spotty (Champ)

He's been good, really good. Well, he did try to eat one of my shoes today, but overall he's been really good! We have been calling him Champ. (We had a big debate about what to call him on the way home from Newcastle. We finally settled on Champ, short for Champion, in tribute to the fact that he is a noble dog, even though he's been through crap.) I'm sending pics - again! - of him relaxing with Kevin. I walked into the living room and found Champ and Charlotte on the couch with Kevin, watching the history channel. Champ is settling in and becoming very affectionate. We think he has been getting some darker markings, around his nose especially. We would love to bring him back to RSR at some point and visit.

Hi Gang,

I have definiely not forgotten all of you at RockySpot. You will always stay in a part of my heart. So many things have happened in such a short period of time that it is hard to remember them all. We had an excellent 3 hour car trip to my new home; which let me show what a great traveler that I am. I sit or lay down in my saftey harness observing many new things outside the window; but of course with dignity. We went to Petco for over an hour with Gerald, my new dad, proudly walking me all around the store. People on a scavenger hunt even ask to take pictures of me. Being used to having my photos taken at RockySpot, I knew how to stand and smile for them. A woman said she wished that her dog behaved that well. I wanted to tell her that there were more like me at RockySpot. We made our visit to Dr. Beal. He said that he thinks that I am in very fine shape; that I am 4 years old; and I weight 52 lbs. One of the girls at the clinic said that she would really love to keep me. That made me kind of nervous; since my photo on the RockySpot site says Adoption Pending. My mom & dad say that I have a permanent home with them; because they have never seen such a Serene wonderful dog. We go for walks and lots of dogs bark; but I just keep walking and ignore the fuss. We play in the yard; but I do miss my playmates. Mom is working on some play dates for me with the dog next door. I am working on my suntan, "sitting" & "down". I get special treats for easy things like that. But that clicker thing scared me really badly. Of course, I have shown my perfect potty training and have not scratched the door, just jingle my collar tags. My mom had to go to the hospital for awhile today. We are sending a photo of me and my new sister Jazz helping her rest on the couch; when she got home. Sorry my face did not show up; but dad is still learning how to use his new camera. Hope that she will feel better now; because I have been getting up frequently with her at night to make sure that she is alright. We have been reading the Dog Whisperer; but we have trouble sitting still very long to read. I have a new bed like the ones at the kennel with my sheet from there; but I have not used it once. I prefer the bed (right in the middle) or the couch. Also including a photo of my grandfather; because he wanted his picture taken with me. He said that I am a wonderful dog and that he is glad that I came from RockySpot Rescue; where they helped me to become such a lady. Grandad lives in the country; so there will be lots to explore.

Always part of your family, Princess (Serena) & Jo

Barney

Hi! This is Barney!! I just want everyone to know I made it to the Bridge to be with my Dad. I could not leave till my work was done here. And now it is!! Bella has a WONDERFUL home in Texas and she is very happy and Fred is going to be just fine. He had a foster home for a bit and I went with him to make him understand it was not scary. He did very well and is now ready to tackle another foster or home. He does not need me anymore to understand life is good. He came back to the rescue and stayed with me till I left. My job is done!! And it was time to leave. I am pleased and I just love the freedom of doing hoops in the air again! Tail wags and doggy licks to all my friends who helped me get back to my daddy waiting at the bridge for me! Barney

McKinney (Mack)

Just an update on Mack. He is doing so great, and has filled a big void left in my heart when my other dalmatian died. I'll have to report, he is VERY spoiled. I can put my arm around his neck and rub under his chin and ask, "Mack, are you spoiled?" He will "yawn" and it sounds just like he says "Yeah." He got his first bath, and we all survived. He didn't resist, but let us know it was not his favorite thing. But he looked so soft and handsome after a bath. He also made a "get acquainted" visit to our vet, and everything checked out fine, except he needs some dental work, so we made an appointment for him to have dental work done on June 8. He will be at the clinic all day, they will use anesthesia and deep clean his teeth and fix some cavities. I chose a day to do it that I will be off work. I won't stay at the clinic, but I will be one of those pesky moms who calls every 2 hours to check on him. He has gained about 1.5 pounds. We are so happy to have him and he seems very happy with us. Thanks for the great work you do with the dals. If not for you, we wouldn't have Mack to love. Mack's Mom Ruth Thompson

Hi everybody ? from (at the moment) SUNNY Oregon ! My new Brother Lucky is still pretty indifferent to me, but it?s only been a couple days ? I think he?ll learn to LOVE me in time, just like my Mama & Papa do! I?m off to my Dr?s appt this morning ? I?ll let you know how that goes, Mama says Dr Haveman is one of the BEST (reminds her of James Herriot)? Love Weebie

Bella Marie

I am enjoying Bella sleeping with me every night. I spent the whole weekend with her. Sunday I did take her for a ride in the car and she was so excited about it. Her tail did wag! Also, I had a couple of errands to run, so I left her at home for about 30 to 45 minutes so she would understand that I will be gone at times. She did really well. She started eating on Saturday and has been eating pretty well since then. I get up early during the week to go to work and she isn't an early riser, so she just stayed in bed this morning. She is a love and we are really bonding, so I think she will be my soulmate for life. I will give her hugs and kisses and tell her you love her. Thank you for being so patient and understanding with me this past month, it has been such a difficult time for me. Bella is the best thing that could have happened to me. Take care, Terri

Gator

Hi Everyone: We got to my new home about 5:15 PM on Saturday and I promptly got to meet all of my roommates - two girls named Peaches and Bien, and two boys who go by Jazz and Thunder. Thunder is a big German Shepherd who let me know that he is boss dog. I think the real boss is Peaches; she is a quiet, 12 year old Golden who think I'm in love with. The third boy is out on show circuit and he is another German Shepherd. There are also inside and outside cats and horses in the pasture next door.

Yesterday Loren worked in the yard and I supervised. Then he started to put up new porch lights but only got one done so I will have to help him finish that up tomorrow as he is working today. I got to come to work with "mom" and we are going to the fire station to see Loren in a few minutes. I will get to meet all the people on his shift and see the equipment. Would have gone earlier but they had a fire to go to this morning. If I make a good impression today I might get to go with the "smokehouse" next Sunday to a Celebration Of Our Children in the park to promote the prevention of child abuse.

Time to help "mom" put out the trash. I think I am going to really like it here. There is lots to do and keep busy. But it is sure windy!

Miss you all.

Gator

UPDATE: Hi Everyone: I've been really busy since moving here. Except for the wind, I love it. The dogs have big runs and the girls have smaller ones but they just lay arond all day. Loren tried me in a run while he was cutting grass. First I tried to dig out of it - no go as it has a cement foundation. Then I tried ripping the chain link with my paws. He decided that the runs weren't for me and let me loose while he cut. I stayed right with him and became a lovely shade of green. He had to wash me off after that but I didn't mind as it was hot outside. I prefer the inside where there is airconditioning. I also chewed thru four outdoor tieouts in two days. Now I know all the dogs use them after dinner at night so I don't chew them anymore.

I'm sure you heard about the tornado that hit Greensburg, KS. It is about 30 miles from us and we had high winds and rain the same night. When the fire, EMS, and police went to Greensburg right after the torando hit they went by our house on the highway and it was sure noisey with all those sirens going. Loren's shift was on standby but they still haven't gone over to help clean up. "Mom" and Loren are going to take the therapy dogs, Peaches and Bien, to visit at one of the shelters and I am going to get to go too. Loren is prepping me to take the Therapy Dog test and observations. I am also working on "stop, drop and roll" for the fire department. So far we have the "stop, drop (sometimes) and beginning of a roll". Get lots of treats learning all of this. We've had lots of rain and all the dogs got to stay in. While they are in I go to work with "mom" and spend off days with Loren. He has been helping "mom" move things in her office and he also does filing and shredding for her. Gets paid for it too. I just get treats.

Will try and send some pictures next time I write. Just been too busy supervising things to get them taken.

Sloppy kisses to all

GATOR

Wiley

Hi Mom we just wanted to say HI! Midnight and I arrived in Minnesota on April 10th early morning after a 12 hour drive from Rockyspot. Yes it was a bit chilly in Minnesota but we love it! The house is great, however we had to learn how to use the stairs to the backyard. It took us a couple of days to conquer it but we did it! We now go up and down the stairs to do our stuff! We were introduced to 3 cats, yes they pretty much rule the roost, however we have fun chasing them! Oh yes of course Callie (a very pretty Dalmation) is our new sister. She come down to Oklamhoma with our new Mom and Dad to pick us up. She pretty much has shown us what the rules are around the house. We go for long walks each day and love it! We both miss you all, but love our new home. Well gotta go and chase cats! Love and Kisses, Wiley and LadyBud Bear, formally known as Midnight

MY FOSTER FAMILY LOVES ME!! THEY ARE KEEPING ME! I AM ADOPTED AND I HAVE A HOME!! WHOO HOOO!!!

Garrett

Garrett is doing great. It took him about 30 seconds to adjust to his new home. Thank you for your help in picking him out. He has the run of the house "all small objects removed" after hearing about the rope swallowing story. He has claimed the middle of the couch as his own and we just work around him. He enjoys our rat terrier. They have hard time every day. My Police Dog is very good with other animals and he and Garrett visit while the police dog in in his yard kennel. Both are ok with the other. Maggie my daughter and Garrett are always together. They walk several times a day and he sleeps in her room. Again thank yoiu for letting Garrett move in. He is a great dog.

Choco

Theresa, I'll try to capture Choco in a photo - (he's pretty fast). He's having a wonderful time - has discovered possum (so far he's just curious - surprises the little fellows then just goes up and smells them), rabbits, birds and cats. He hasn't come across any deer yet or turkey- but that'll happen as they are around. He's onery - but does well on the leash (I've begun letting him off leash some) - he is learning to sit and come (most of the time) and we're working on various hand signals. He gets along great with Buddy - and makes Buddy run! I buy them new toys about every week (they don't last long!). He is healthy and happy - has put on a few pounds - but is not pudgy. He loves to run and is friendly with family and friends who visit. All in all he is a special sweetie! I'll send more later. Thanks Nona Miller Choco's mom)

Keagan

Hi - I'm Keagan and boy have I had a ride since the first of the year! My new mom and dad came to get me on January 1st - driving 5 hours from Denver to Hays, Kansas on over 100 miles of ice on I-70 to meet up with the wonderful volunteer that brought me from Wichita, KS on that cold and icey day. My foster mom Angie got me to Tom in Wichita and then Tom brought me to my new mom and dad. We drove 5 hours back to Denver - not quite sure where I was going but we got there safe and sound and I had a feeling my new home was going to be a very caring environment from the start. I have been here now for 4 months and am loving life! I live on 5 acres now, get two or three walks a day, have met so many new friends, and get to go all sorts of places with my new family! And I do love to ride and I am told I am a very good boy in our vehicles! My new mom and dad love me very much - they tell me that over and over - and I am a very happy boy! I know I have found my forever home! Love to all that made this happen for me! :-)

Dottie

Hi Everyone back at Rockyspot!!!!

I am all settled into my new home here in Moore. I love it here. There are 3 kids here to play with and there is even another dog that looks just like me. He is an older gentleman though, he tries to keep up with me sometimes..But then when he gets pooped out he will sit outside and watch me for hours running around the backyard. And speaking of the backyard, I love it out there, little critters sometimes come flying through or running through and since I am such a little hunter I enjoy trying to catch them. I have one favorite little girl that I play with the most, her name is Kacy May (same middle name as me :) ) and she can keep up with me forever. She is so good to me, we have lots of fun. I miss all of you but I sure love me new home, too. I am just so happy I smile almost all the time. Hope all you folks are doing well back home. Talk to you later. Dottie May

Houston

HOUSTON: GOD SPEED You wil be horribly missed by all who came in contact with your beautiful soul.

From Houstons new family:

Here is the first and last family picture of us with our new Dalmatian, Houston. We got him from a rescue in Newcastle, OK on October 22. He died quite unexpectedly of a brain tumor & metastasized cancer on Monday, November 13 at OSU Vet Med. Up until 72 hours before his death he was the sweetest, calmest, best behaved dog you could ever want. He was happy just to be at our side or near us. The only thing he EVER did to get in trouble was trying to steal Mommy?s seat on the couch when she wasn?t looking. Best estimates are that Houston was less than 3 years old. OSU said they had never seen this in a dog so young. Our consolation is that he had 3 weeks in a good, loving home before his death.

Sophii (Lauren)

Hi my name is Sophii (It suites me better than Lauren). Boy does my family love me!! I mostly stay in the family room where everyone congregates. Lizzie plays with me all the time, and sometimes brings her friends to play with me too. I sure make them laugh. I try to growl but I really don't mean it, I know they are only playing. They played hide and seek with me the other day, and went in the house, but I just peered in every window of the house I could reach until I found them. If I am left alone I will grab something of my families (like a book, a TV remote, magazine, newspaper, a lamp, even a candle or an emery board). They come running........I have them well-trained. I sit when they ask me too and wait nicely for a treat. I have lots of room to run in the yard. The little dog next door , Annie and I run back and forth along the yard, until one of us gets tired. I chase Lizzie and her friends on the 4 wheeler, boy does that make me tired. Then in the evening I curl up with Mr. Sullivan, the TV and a good rawhide bone, then off to my crate for good nights sleep. Sometimes in the morning when Mrs. Sullivan comes down stairs, I am still sleeping. She gives me breakfast and talks to me nice and pets me. I try not to be wild for her, she doesn't like it and I want to please her. I love it when she leaves the music on in the family room when she is busy and I don't bother her then. When Eddie and Mimi are home from college, Eddie likes to wrestle me and hug me, Mimi pretends she doesnt like me, but I know she does..... I missed my puppy pals at first, and wished I had one of my siblings with me, but I am getting the hang of being the only dog and I kind of like it.... I can tell this family really needed a puppy to love!!!

Leah

Hello from the snowbelt in Michigan! Finally! The snow has come and I LOVE IT! I am a snow monster! I am the queen of my domain! My spot reigns supreme at my home! Well, it was a LOOOONG trip from Oklahoma to Michigan but well worth the trip! I met some great people on the way and am thankful for all the people who went the extra distance to get me to my new family!

At home, my favorite pasttime is CHEWING! It is true. My favorite things are furniture but I would never dare say "NO" to shoes, clothes or my human brother's stuffed animals and action figures! YUM! I'm trying to curve my appetite but it sure is hard!

I have a huge yard that I can go into whenever I want! I learn how to work with the invisible fense quickly! My favorite pal is my cousin Copie! She is a Jack Russell Terrier. We play hard all the time and we take turns being the boss, but I normally win! :)

So, I'm crazy during the day, but at night, I'm a big baby! Just give me my daily rub down, and I melt like butter! I sleep with my Mom and Dad, right in the middle of the bed so there is no fight who sleeps where!

I miss y'all in Oklahamo, but I'm a true Michigander!

Hello Mudda,Hello Fadda, I'm now livin', Where I oughta!!!!!! I was unsure but resigned when i left you, but what the heck the long trip was good for a prolonged quiet time and naps, plus new smells and treats along the way. At first I was afraid we had arrived at a new shelter and jumped back in the van on arriving in Michigan, but I soon learned that these other dogs were my new family, and I had a new Mommy, grandma, Daddydog, and siblings Lily,Dottie, and a funny looking orangedog named SOX. Mommy says he's special cuz he is a KITTY. I now take very seriously feeding the horses here and making sure the boudaries and fence lines are secure and duly marked. I especially enjoy romping through the lush grass with my new "sister" Dottie, and riding with my Daddydog to Mcdonalds. Riding to the bank is OK also ,but they usually only give us money and no Cookies. I help my Daddydog feed horses and do yardwork. The barn has birds that are very interesting. My Daddydog leaves early in the morning on most days but he leaves Mommy and grandma with me, and so far has always returned from someplace called "work" with dogfood. Work must be a wonderfulplace with all that dogfood!!!! I always snooze with Mommy after Daddydog leaves until its time to have breakfast and feed horses.
Yesterday Dottie got us all in trouble for rolling in some green stuff Daddydog says was wildturkeypoop, and WE ALL got baths. PEEUPEEEEE!!
Well gotta go, Dottie and I have things to Doo to Doo to Doo!!! WAG WAG WAG, Kisses from Lily too!!!
Happy Trails N Tails

Hi T! It's me! I just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of me! I'm doing good. The big dog that looks kind of like me is being nicer. I think his name is Lucky. We are playing a lot and he is not trying to get in my crate now. I'm getting more relaxed too. I kind of barked a little at my new mom this morning after she put me in this crate and was walking out the door. I'm not sure I'm liking this crate business very much! I don't know what that big thing is in the back yard, but I don't like it! It's ok as long as the lady isn't doing anything with it. Last night she didn't get in but she had this long shiny thing with a brush on the end. I didn't like it and tried to get away. I got out the other night when she was in that thing but my escape route had been blocked. I did try to climb up the big blocks that are in front of it, but the gate had been hammered shut and the lady came and got me and hugged me and said she would not mess with that big thing any more when I was out there. I think that will be ok. The big black dog is ok. Her name is Rosalin. She plays a little and is not growling at me when I walk by. I do know that she is the boss. The other dog with the black spots kind of had his bluff in on me, but then last night the black dog and him were playing and I saw who the boss really is! He tries to growl and stuff at me like she does him, but now I know he is just playing like they do and trying to do what she does but I know he's a big pushover! (Just between you and me, his growl gets a little high pitched so I know he's trying to hard to be pushy, ya know?) We totally destroyed the piggy last night that you had given me! We still have it but there is no fluffy soft stuff in it. It was fun. We had a three way tug of war going on and I showed those big dogs that I could hang in just as long as they did! Well, gotta go. Have to take a nap until my mom gets home. Then we get to play and play and play! Thanks again for taking such good care of me until my mom got here! LOL, The Razzle

Emily (Hope Renae)

Greetings from Tulsa! I?ve had a lot of adventures since I left Rocky Spot. At first they weren?t at all nice ones. I was very sick, but the wonderful doctors at OSU soon got me all well. Mom says that all of the thoughts and prayers from our Rocky Spot family were a big part of my getting better. But now I?m having a wonderful time with my new brother (Eliot). I got my bluff in on him right away so there?s no question of who?s the top spot around here! I?ve also got my Daddy wrapped around my little finger (so to speak!). I love to crawl into bed with him after Mom gets up and just snuggle! Recently I ?found? the fireplace. I put my front paws up on the hearth and toast one side and then turn and toast the other ? yummy! Speaking of yummy . . . . Mom baked Christmas cookies for us and they were delish! But my favorite, every-day treat is carrots ? great for my girlish figure, too. I have a big yard that I can go into whenever I want. On nice days I like to sunbathe for an hour or so. But it?s not all fun and games. I have a big responsibility ? chasing squirrels and bunnies, and there are zillions of them! Thank you to everyone who helped me find my new family. Life is good! Love, Emily

Riot (Jesse)

Riot ? The Male Part of the ?Fearless Foursome? Hi, my name is Riot. I started life in a difficult way. I still get very upset when the BMW commercial comes on with the kids screaming while opening Christmas gifts. I also had a number six shotgun pellet removed from my front leg. So, I cannot tell you how happy I am to be in my new home with my stepbrother, another Rocky Spot rescue, ?Handsome? Ransom. My trip to Greensboro, GA started with Art bringing me to West Memphis, AR where I met my new family. My new mommy, dad and brother picked me up in their RV. Pretty nice ride for a street wise Dalmatian. Let me tell you how a typical day goes in my new digs. Ransom and I are up at 5:30 ? 6:30 AM for our outside stroll. Breakfast at 7 and a two-hour nap, after having a full belly. Ransom has to eat that awful weight control food. He has lost ten pounds due to his diet and my active life style. Next, is an extended game of chase and tug a stick. In between, we chase the deer and pesky squirrels away. Next, is another nap. Lunch is a carrot treat. I am not into carrots like Ransom. In the afternoon, it is time for exercise. We have bike ?walky dog? rods that lead us on our two-mile run. I am the halfback and Ransom is the linebacker in our running styles. The first mile is almost flat out. In fact, we reach 18 miles per hour at times. On the way back, we have to run past a few yappy dogs, but they are only jealous of my bother and me. Dinner is at five, more backyard play. In the evening, my brother lays in his mommy?s lap and I in my dad?s. All in all, life is good. I am a little devil at times, but my kindergarten, obedience course I, is helping. Ransom is an agility dog, but I will be better than he is when I start the course. Mommy is defiantly the Alpha. Thanks to all that helped rescue us. Life does not get much better than this

Sabrina

Tommy and Sabrina are just wonderful. In the evenings they both lay on the sofa next to me, then at night Sabrina in on the bed and Tommy usually likes his carrier. I think he feels more secure. Now during the ice storm we had, they both slept with me. That was a miserable 5 days. All the cracking and popping of limbs and trees falling really unsettled Tommy. Sabrina does not let much bother her, she is quite the hunting dog and running like crazy. She is really a hoot. Now they have changed rolls, instead of Tommy getting on her back, she now gets on Tommy?s back, quite a site. Tommy just lets her do her thing. It is a good for a laugh or two.

Louie

In December 2005, we were asked to foster ?Ole ?Louie. He was about 9 years old and had been at the rescue about seven of those years. We have had several dogs (and cats) over the years but we have never seen a dog like this one.
Louie is beautiful Dalmation-Blue Heeler mix. His teeth are not so great any more and he has cataracts- but we don?t notice these things. He is such a lovable fellow and returns all the love he is given.
He is afraid of storms, squeeze toys and my nail clippers! These thing will cause him to rush to his cage. (His cage is his security blanket !!) It is not unusual for him to disappear and we find him in the closet or in his cage.
We can clap our hands 2 times when we leave for work or it is bedtime and he rushes to his cage and waits for us to fasten the door. In the morning we open the cage and IF he is ready he will get up-- if not, he will be out when he IS ready. Mr. Independent!
He requires a hug when he comes in from outside. He likes people food-- you know-- apples, oranges, pears, watermelon, cantaloupe, chips ,peanuts, chicken, ham. We did find out that dogs are not supposed to have raisins or grapes. (?) His favorite is breakfast toast (small piece) with butter and peanut butter dipped in Grandpa?s coffee !!!
Louie loves to ride in the car (usually he sleeps the whole time) - but he always wants to GO!!
He thinks he is a lap dog and the most wonderful evening is to spend it on my lap. (If he just didn?t LEAP up on my lap)
Since he came from the rescue and he needed a home--- I guess HE? S FOUND HIS HOME!!

Vicki

Hi Theresa,

Sorry it took me so long to write, but I've been in Doggy Day Care, ALOT!!! My new mommy calls it that but I know that it's really for doggies with bad habits. I'm learning to walk when I'm told and to sit/stay when I'm told and not to ever bite unless someone in my family is in trouble and needs my help. The Day Care introduces me to lots of new dogs. They made me play with a new female that thinks she's the boss of everyone. She isn't very nice but I'm trying to like her anyway.

At my new home we have a cat that looks like a dog. Mom says he's a Cornish Rex, and I'm not sure what that means but I sure love chasing him. Mommy says I should be nice to him cause he's my new brother, but he's a CAT!

Mom and Dad had new landscaping put in and I helped by digging lots of holes for new plants. Dad covered them up and was mumbling something that I didn't understand. Guess they wanted those flowers next to the house and not in the middle of the yard.

Dad takes me for long walks and mom always has a treat ready for me when I get back. I have lots of toys and keep them next to my bed in my bucket. They both buy them for me so I'm never bored. They have kids come over now and then that play with me too.

I'm sending you a picture of my bed. I love it cause mom bought me a pad to go on top that is soooo soft. Although I like to raise it up and scratch my back just above my tail on it. Dad wants to get it on video, cause he thinks I'm funny. I also hide under it when I'm in trouble or scared.

Well, it's my bedtime now. Say hello to the gang for me and give my love to everyone. I'm really happy here and hope you can find everyone a new home like mine! Thank you for all you did for me.

Love,
Macey (means "bright light")
cuz of my 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye

Reggie

Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you how much fun I'm having in my new home. I have a big sister, Tootie, who is cool about everything but sharing her pink pig, and a cat to mess with, too. The yard is HUGE and I just love running across it and checking to see if somebody is getting into my space. I'm kinda taking on "watchdog duties" here.
My new mom and dad are fun. When mom gets home from school, we have to play for a bit. That's loads of fun, and then we get to eat dinner and wait for dad. Almost every night we sit on the patio for food and fun. I table surf a little, but that's not a good thing so have to I stop. You know, I'm just testing my limits like any guy would.
I just love being in Texas and having somebody to give me lots of head rubs and treats. This is so great. I've even had close encounters with the resident frog. (He doesn't taste good at all!) Now it's almost summer, and Tootie says mom will be at home to play and hang out with us. That's great.
Thank Beth White for finding me in Kansas, thank you, Theresa, for finding space for me at RSR, and thank Christi for taking care of me after my surgery. All of you took care of me so I could find a home like this!
Lots of love to everybody at RSR, Reg (aka Reggie)

Princess Leia

HI! Hi, told you I would be back in touch. I've been busy taking care of my mom who is recovering from treatment for breast cancer. She is getting stronger every day and I take her for a walk in this nice, big, leash-free park. Sometimes, when she is tired, we just go to the little doggie park where she can sit down and I get to socialize with all the other neat dogs. I was a little over- protective of mom, but now I go and ask dogs to play with me. We have fun running and chasing each other. Sometimes we get into the pond and get all wet. One day I played so hard Mom couldn't see my spots under the mud. Boy, was THAT a fun day. I got to see mom's horses the other day, they are HUGE (and scary). Well, it's time to tell mom time for dinner. Then I get to pester her until she goes to bed. (She really makes the rules, but I try to take care of her!) Mom said she will send pictures as soon as she figures out her camera.

Licks and Slurps
Leia

We finally got home. Took us 11 hours. We just took our time, stopped alot, let Leia out alot and stretched her legs. She was a good crate dog. Took her for a walk with a friend this morning. She learned how to swim, found a turtle, wagged at everyone! She's in her kennel drying off, then she can come back in the house. Caught my husband petting her and scratching her ears!!! He said I got her because she looks just like our older dog, Tasha. I was at the desk earlier this morning paying bills, and she was laying at my feet, just wagging away. I think he likes her. She has our address tag on also, so she is very musical when she scratches :-) I'll keep in touch.............

Hello Theresa

Reno has really adjusted to his new home. He likes his new bed and his new four legged friends. Even the feline ones. On the way home he enjoyed the snacks and water you provided. They really came in handy. He is a beautiful dog and we are glad to add him to our home. Such a cuddly boy. Many thanks for all your work in providing such a wonderful service for so many lost dalmatians. You are an angel.
